Re-Bath Before and After: Trendsetter Bathroom

Did you check out our post on the Top 5 Bathroom Trends for 2016? Although this Re-Bath remodel was completed at the end of 2015, it seems that these homeowners were ahead of the game, having incorporated 3 out of the 5 trends into their trendsetter bathroom remodel.

• Bringing nature into the bathroom,
• Using timeless grays and whites
• The use of classic tile

Since this trendsetter bathroom was already spacious, the homeowners were able to keep their existing bathroom layout while upgrading all the features. Foremost, they wanted to get rid of the ugly, dark wooden cabinetry, bathtub surround, and outdated gold hardware.

Ditch the Outdated Style

They chose a white wood cabinet, with a double sink and a quartz top, and used dark bronze hardware to create contrast. They also replaced their gold light fixtures with modern chrome fixtures. Another great design choice was swapping out the large, one-piece mirror for two smaller framed mirrors. These choices gave their bathroom a stylish, fresh and trendy look.

A key feature to redesigning this bathroom was creating space between the tub, the vanity, and the shower. These features were connected by tile and wood, which made the room feel boxed in. By separating them, the bathroom appears open, larger and spa-like.

Due to the additional visual space in the room, choosing the right flooring was an important decision. Removing the outdated, oversized, square tile, the homeowners chose a large, gray, rectangular Vitra Best Tile, in a wood grain. The gray flooring pairs nicely with the white tile, vanity, and walls, a big trend for 2016.

One of our favorite features in this bathroom is the Fleurco freestanding tub and bronze Delta floor-mounted faucet. The placement of the freestanding tub underneath a window lets natural light in, illuminating the room and creating a sense of tranquility.

The shower received a major upgrade. With stone flooring, white tile, a rainwater showerhead, and a frameless glass door this shower appears larger and incorporates another 2016 trend of bringing elements of nature into the bathroom.
