Bathroom Vanities and Cabinetry – What’s New?
Bathroom vanities have come a long way. Vanity cabinets, originally designed to house the sink, hide the plumbing pipes and add storage, were basic, boring, and dull. Now, most bathroom vanities are designed to look like furniture. Upper-end vanity cabinets have more detail than expensive furniture and can be the focal point of the bathroom.
Bathroom cabinetry is not limited to just bathroom vanities. We offer medicine cabinets, framed vanity mirrors, linen cabinets, display cabinets, toilet toppers, and hampers to match our vanities. Choose from cabinetry made from different wood species in an array of classic finishes and styles ranging from contemporary to traditional.
Aside from style, bathroom cabinetry offers convenient storage for everything from cosmetics to towels. Drawers and storage organizers are available even in smaller bathroom vanities. You may be surprised by how much storage you can put in a small bathroom.
Tips For Choosing The Best Cabinetry For Your Bathroom Remodel:
If you have enough space for a larger vanity, use it.
Look for empty spaces to install cabinetry. For example, the wall space above the commode is perfect for a shallow wall cabinet.
A medicine cabinet is great space to organize cosmetics and toiletries.
A taller vanity is easier on the back—a vanity should be 35” to 36” tall.
If space is very tight, you can use a shallow depth vanity (18” deep).
Dark colors make cabinetry look larger; light colors look smaller.
Complement your bathroom vanity with:
Solid surface (similar to Corian)
Quartz, a man-made stone
Granite, a natural stone
Solid Surface Vanity Tops: Solid Surface is a man-made acrylic product that comes in many different colors and patterns. Solid surfaces are scratch and stain resistant and warm to the touch. Solid Surface vanity tops usually come in a matte finish.
Granite Vanity Tops: Granite, a natural stone, has beautiful and varying colors primarily in darker hues. The surface is porous and should be sealed. Granite is scratch resistant and typically comes in a shiny finish but a honed or matte finish is available.
The Type of Vanity Top You Choose Decides What Kinds of Sinks and Bathroom Fixtures You Can Install
Sinks: Under-mount porcelain sinks work well with granite or quartz. Solid Surface can be fabricated with a matching or contrasting bowl. The two most popular colors are white and bone. Other colors are available by special order.
Faucets: Complete your bathroom vanity with a stylish faucet. Choose from polished chrome, brushed chrome, brushed nickel, or oil-rubbed bronze finishes. The lever handles found on many new faucets are much easier to grasp and turn than the old knob handles.
